Bat Chat & Guided Bat Walk
Discover the fascinating world of bats at Washington College!
Join the Town of Chestertown, Center for Environment & Society and the Maryland Department of Natural Resources for a free evening of bat education and exploration. The program will begin with a presentation from DNR bat experts Sarah Witcher and Katy Gorsuch, who will share insights into Maryland’s bats, their important role in our ecosystems, and the challenges they face. The presentation will be followed by a Q&A, giving attendees the opportunity to ask questions and learn more about these often-misunderstood animals.
Following the presentation, participants will head outdoors for a guided bat walk around campus. DNR experts will highlight areas with potential bat activity, including campus habitat areas, gardens, and bat boxes, while sharing tips for observing and learning about bats in the wild.
The evening will also feature educational resources from the Maryland Department of Natural Resources, Washington College, and the Chestertown Environmental Club, along with light refreshments.
This event is free and open to the public. Registration is required and limited.
