Bass Coast & CMCT present The Electric Pow Wow Tour, bringing together two powerful voices in Indigenous electronic music for a special night at Lucky Bar.
SHUB
For over a decade, Shub (formerly DJ Shub) has been at the forefront of a movement that reshaped the landscape of Indigenous electronic music. A Mohawk artist, producer and composer from Six Nations of the Grand River, Shub pioneered the powwow-step sound and helped bring it to an international audience as a former member of the JUNO-winning A Tribe Called Red.
His solo career has continued to push that sound forward, earning him the 2022 JUNO Award for Contemporary Indigenous Artist of the Year. His latest project, Heritage, brings electronic music, hip-hop and powwow energy together in what Shub describes as his most complete musical statement yet.
HANDSOME TIGER
Handsome Tiger is an Anishinaabe Métis and North African producer/DJ based in Vancouver, weaving traditional sounds from his heritage and Indigenous influences into contemporary bass music and global club sounds.
A fixture of the West Coast underground and North American festival circuit, Handsome Tiger has brought his high-energy sets to Bass Coast, Shambhala, Envision, Lightning in a Bottle, MUTEK, Texas Eclipse and beyond, sharing stages with artists including EarthGang, Snotty Nose Rez Kids, Ky-Mani Marley, Sister Nancy, The Librarian and Shub himself.
