BASICS OF PATTERN MAKING

Learn the fundamentals of pattern drafting and customized garment fitting with FashionBar Chicago!

Classes limited to 4 students.

In this class, you will learn the basic principles and fundamentals of pattern drafting. This beginner-friendly course introduces students to various garment styles and the techniques used to create customized patterns for garment construction.

Students will begin with basic slopers, which are the foundational blocks of the body, including the bodice, skirt, and sleeve. From there, students will learn how to identify fit issues, make adjustments, and develop properly fitted patterns.

By the end of this course, you will have developed the confidence and foundational skills needed to begin drafting garment patterns independently.

This course is taught as an instructional, hands-on class. You will be guided through each technique step by step in a small-group setting.

• Course Price: $485 per student
• Duration: 4 class sessions (2 hours each, 8 instructional hours total)
• Schedule: Saturdays, 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM
• Class Size: Limited to 4 students

Important: Each monthly registration covers all four Saturday sessions listed for that course. Students only need to purchase one ticket to attend the complete four-session program.

The Pattern Making Basics 101 will be offered during the following months in 2027:

• January: January 9, 16, 23, 30
• February: February 6, 13, 20, 27
• March: March 6, 13, 20, 27
• May: May 8, 15, 22, 29
• June: June 5, 12, 19, 26
• July: July 10, 17, 24, 31
• August: August 7, 14, 21, 28
• September: September 4, 11, 18, 25
• November: November 6, 13, 20, 27

No courses will be offered in April, October, or December 2027.

Each monthly course consists of four consecutive Saturday sessions.
