35mm Black & White Photography: From Exposure to Print
A Complete Analog Photography Experience
This comprehensive course guides students through the entire black-and-white photographic process, from making intentional exposures to developing negatives and producing finished contact prints in the darkroom.
Students will learn how to:
- Use a 35mm camera
- Understand exposure, light, and contrast
- Develop black and white film by hand
- Read and evaluate negatives
- Create and process traditional contact prints
Rather than focusing on isolated steps, this class emphasizes photography as a complete system—camera, chemistry, and paper working together. By the end of the course, students will understand not just how to make photographs, but why each step matters.
This class is ideal for beginners seeking a strong foundation, as well as photographers who want a deeper, more tactile understanding of black and white photography.
Students leave with developed negatives, finished contact prints, and the skills needed to continue working independently in the darkroom.
