About this Event
From October to February Coventry Artspace will be running a series of early evening First Thursday events with contributions from artists, curators and arts leaders. We will kick off on 8th October and we're delighted that the first artist contributor will be inspirational Dresden based sculptor Bildhauer Reinhard Pontius, who is resident in the City under the auspices of the Coventry-Dresden Exchange as part of the States of Nature strand of the Coventry Art Show.
The Coventry Art Show is the fringe programme developed by local arts organisations in response to the launch of British Art Show 10: A Chorus of Strangers in Coventry venues from 2 October 2026 to 10 January 2027.
The Coventry Art Show has 3 strands which reflect the themes of BAS10:
- Moments of Being, inspired by the work of Virginia Woolf, this strand is led by Coventry Biennial
- Ways of Living, inspired the work of Stuart Hall, this strand is by led by SOMA
- States of Nature, inspired by the work of Timothy Morton, this strand is led by Talking Birds
Our special BAS 10 First Thursday series is part of the States of Nature strand and so the contributions from artists and curators will reflect this.
As usual, First Thursday events are open to all and provide an opportunity for local artists to network, share their thoughts and generally talk about art.
