About this Event
Dark paper changes everything.
Suddenly, a simple stroke of light ink becomes dramatic. Flourishes glow. Letterforms jump off the page.
Join renowned New York calligrapher Barry Morentz for a full-day exploration of light and opaque inks on dark paper.
Barry will show you how to choose the right materials, work confidently with opaque inks and adapt your lettering to create crisp, luminous results on dark surfaces.
And you’ll be learning from someone with an extraordinary career behind him.
For more than 45 years, Barry has created calligraphy for private collectors and luxury brands including Cartier, Rolex and Estée Lauder. His work has also been commissioned by institutions including The New York Public Library, The Museum of Modern Art and Columbia University. Flourish Festival of Letters & Art
You’ll leave with new techniques, a better understanding of opaque inks and plenty of ideas for using dramatic dark surfaces in cards, artwork, certificates and commissioned pieces.
