Two musicians with deep roots in the Ulster Orchestra, together on stage for the first time — and the programme matches the occasion.
Elena Kats-Chernin's Zoom and Zip launches the evening with a burst of energy before Barry Douglas brings his trademark warmth and authority to Schumann's only piano concerto, a beautiful partnership between soloist and orchestra. Dvořák's Wood Dove supplies a melodramatic tale of deception and tragedy, and Bartók's riotous Dance Suite brings the house down.
