From the wild and experimental flow of jam sessions, Baron Crâne emerged in 2014, and has since been creating a unique musical syntax by borrowing from a wide variety of musical styles, thus creating several albums noted for their singularity. A self-titled debut album released in 2015, followed by a second, Electric Shades, marked the beginnings of an inclination for sonic exploration. From jazz fusion to heavy rock, Baron Crâne doesn't confine itself to any one aesthetic and navigates its diverse influences with disconcerting ease.
In 2017, a lineup change—Léo (guitar), Léo (drums), and Olivier (bass)—brought Baron Crâne into a new direction. Passionately, the trio meticulously crafts their mosaic-like sound, creating a new offshoot in 2020
with the album Commotions (MRS label). Its powerful riffs and driving rhythms are every bit as compelling as the lyrical poetry delivered by guests A.Brossard and INCH, expanding Baron Crâne's universe into
previously unexplored territories.
After the lockdown, the writing of the album Les Beaux Jours began, driven
by the three musicians' desire to embrace their diversity by inviting numerous guest musicians: saxophonist Guillaume Perret, flautist Robby Marshall, the vocals of Cyril Bodin... and the guitarist himself, who ventures into blending heavy metal with French lyrics on the eponymous track, "Les Beaux Jours." A profusion of aesthetics, rhythms, and vocals, this opus reflects a need for rebellion, a yearning to find a form of truth and artistic sincerity. Once on stage, it is the harmonious blend of these hybrid pieces that allows Baron Crâne to unite an eclectic audience at their concerts in France and Europe. All that remains is the intensity of the celebration of feelings and the trance of sensations, both evoked by the trio's evident pleasure in performing
their cathartic compositions live.
