About this Event
How do we raise up local leaders from estates and low-income neighbourhoods?
What does discipleship look like in our neighbourhoods and how can we support each other with this?
How do we move away from a scarcity mindset and effectively identify, encourage and deploy people to make a difference in our contexts?
This will be our first ever Barking Estates Roundtable - and evening for all serving in churches on estates and in low-income communities across the area to gather, be resourced, share and pray together. At this first event, we are excited to be joined by Rev Helen Shannon, an estates planter and church leader from the diocese of London with an inspiring ministry resourcing those working on estates. Helen will be speaking and facilitating discussion around this topic of raising disciples and leaders in estates and low income contexts, something that we know many of our churches and working at and wrestling with.
For this first Roundtable, we'll be hosted by St George's church in Harold Hill. St George's is an inspiring church at the heart of its community, growing an inclusive and diverse church that represents its neighbourhood, and enables all to find their place and their voice. We will hear a little of their story whilst we are there, and there will also be a chance to eat, share and pray together, believing that the wisdom is to be found in the room!
The event is free and we will provide food at the start of the evening, so we would be most grateful if you could register to let us know you are coming, and encourage others to do so too. Why not bring a small group of key people from your church or context - these events are being put on for lay and ordained people and ministers working on estates or in low-income neighbourhoods, and the greater range of people we get coming the better!
