Spend a day inside the Hidden Grounds training facility with owner Anand Patel learning the core skills behind a café espresso bar. This beginner-friendly workshop is for curious home coffee makers and people exploring barista work. You'll practice on professional equipment in a small group, with coaching as you go.
What you'll learn and do
- Set up a clean, safe espresso station and understand the grinder and machine
- Choose a starting espresso recipe, dose, distribute, tamp and pull shots
- Taste and adjust espresso by changing the grind and watching yield and time
- Steam and texture milk for core café drinks; an oat milk option will be available
- Build espresso, cappuccino and latte drinks with a consistent workflow
- Practice a short service sequence and clean down the station
You'll rotate through hands-on stations and receive individual feedback. No prior experience is required. This is a Hidden Grounds workshop, not an accredited certification or a job-placement program.
The day
Saturday, December 5, 2026, 10:00 AM–4:00 PM Eastern. We'll take a 30-minute lunch break around midday. Lunch is not included; please bring something to eat. Coffee, milk and equipment used during class are included. You'll be tasting espresso during the day, but you don't need to drink every full shot.
