Few things are without precedent, and rock ‘n’ roll bands are no exception.
Born from the inspiration of power pop icons the likes of Cheap Trick, Brian Wilson, The Posies, and Todd Rundgren, Barely Pink is an irony-free rock 'n' roll band delivering an exhilarating blend of catchy melodies and powerful live performances. Fun fact: the band's name references a lipstick color mentioned in the cult classic novel "Valley of the Dolls."
The band's current lineup features vocalist and band co-founder Brian Merrill, bassist Michael Hoag, co-guitarists Dan LaJoy and Mark Warren, and newest recruit drummer/vocalist Robbie Rist, a multi-talented musician and actor who may be familiar to followers of film and classic TV as a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle, a Colonial boy genius scientist, a Sharknado chaser, or even a cousin to the Bradys. (Look him up on imdb.com!)
Barely Pink's career began in 1995 with the self-release of a vinyl 45 ("Jennifer Speed"/"She Gets Me High" b/w a cover of Big Star's "In The Streets") and a five-song EP, Starduster, which garnered critical acclaim from local, regional, and national media.
Their subsequent full-length albums, numberonefan (1997) and Elli's Suitcase (1999), were released in the US and Europe by Not Lame Recordings, a well-respected boutique power pop label, and in Asian markets by JVC/Victor. Following personnel changes, the band released their third full-length album, Last Day of Summer, in 2003. Recorded in part at Tampa's Morrisound Studios with Tom Morris (Seven Mary Three, Steve Morse Band, and The Crow soundtrack) and Studio Bee in St. Petersburg, the ten-song collection solidified Barely Pink's status as a creative force in the power pop scene.
Barely Pink's music has been featured in various media outlets, including the XGames on ESPN, the Disney Channel, and the Tokyo Broadcasting System. The band has also made multiple appearances over the years at the International Pop Overthrow, the prestigious pop-oriented music festival held in Los Angeles, New York City, Nashville, and the UK. https://barelypink.com/

Referencing proto-punk/post-punk touchstones like Modern Lovers, Missions of Burma, and Dharma Bums, The Henrys' lineup boasts a roster of Tampa Bay music luminaries including Ed Lowery (Magadog, The Immediates), Karen Collins (My Little Trotsky, Monday Mornings), Mike Roe (Epic Trash, The Boxes), and Joe Prince (Joey Sunshine Band).
