Baptiste Trotignon & Rémi Bolduc DuoAn evening of jazz featuring celebrated French pianist Baptiste Trotignon and renowned Canadian saxophonist Rémi Bolduc.
Bringing together two master improvisers, this special concert highlights the intimate and conversational nature of the jazz duo. With only piano and saxophone, the music leaves plenty of room for listening, interaction and spontaneity.
Baptiste Trotignon is one of France’s most celebrated jazz pianists and composers. An artist of remarkable versatility and imagination, he moves naturally between the spontaneity of jazz and the expressive possibilities of classical composition. His playing combines exceptional technique, a strong melodic sense and an adventurous musical spirit. His many honours include the Prix Django Reinhardt, the Grand Prize at the Martial Solal International Jazz Piano Competition, the Grand Prix du Jazz de la SACEM and Germany’s ECHO Jazz Award for Instrumentalist of the Year. Whether improvising or performing his own compositions, Trotignon brings a distinctive voice and personality to the piano.
Rémi Bolduc is an acclaimed Canadian alto saxophonist, composer and Associate Professor at McGill University’s Schulich School of Music. Known for his virtuosity, warm tone and strong sense of swing, he has released 12 albums as a leader and performed with artists including Jerry Bergonzi, Kenny Werner, Marc Johnson and Jean-Michel Pilc. He is a winner of the Félix Award for Jazz Album of the Year and several Prix Opus awards. He is also President and Artistic Director of Les Productions Art and Soul. His latest album, Le Bolduc Groove Quintet, is nominated for Jazz Album of the Year at both the ADISQ Gala this year.
Together, Trotignon and Bolduc bring their own musical personalities to a program of original compositions, jazz standards and open improvisation. This concert offers a rare opportunity to hear two internationally recognized artists in the intimate setting of Robo Lounge, where every note and every musical exchange can be heard.
