About this Event
Join Dr. Holly Harriel, Professor of the Practice of Democracy and Civic Engagement at MIT and award-winning author and journalist Ta-Nehisi Coates for a documentary screening and conversation about home, legacy and Black land ownership.
Presented by the Stop Oppressive Seizures Fund (SOS Fund), Baltimore Heirs: The Last Deed Undone follows the Butler, Jackson and Powell families as they navigate legal barriers to keeping homes passed down through generations. Written and directed by Jewel Guy and produced by the SOS Fund, the film explores how unclear property titles and inequitable housing policies threaten family homes, land and wealth.
