Join us for an evening of food and conversation with author Maria Speck as she launches her new book Baking with Ancient Grains.
Whole grains aren’t just a buzzword for award-winning author and cook Maria–they’re a way of life. She brings you into her world with her third book Baking With Ancient Grains, the product of years of painstaking research and recipe testing. We’ve tasted some of the recipes as she developed the book and we can assure you it's been worth the wait.
With a focus on whole, fresh milled flours and single varietal grains like spelt and rye, Maria offers her Mediterranean-inspired perspective in this new tome, packed with 75 inspiring recipes for sweet and savory options, covering the gamut from bread to pastries. Each chapter includes an essay and tips on how to use these amazing flours in your everyday baking. This book is a treasure for both home millers and bakers using local fresh flour alike!
Join us for a sampling of recipes from her book and a discussion with Maria on October 25th from 6:30pm-8:30pm. We’ll have a spread of food baked from the book and Maria will answer your questions about using whole flour in your next bake.
More about Maria Speck: Maria is one of the OGs of the whole grain movement. She was doing it before it was cool. Before small mills like ours peppered the country. Her first books, Ancient Grains for Modern Meals, and Simply Ancient Grains inspired countless cooks and bakers to explore the delicious and nutritious world of whole grains (her books were a big part our research as we prepared to open our shop). In addition to her award-winning books, she has contributed to MODERNIST BREAD, and her writing has been featured in the Washington Post, Eating Well, Saveur, and Gastronomica.
There are two tiers of tickets to this event. General admission tickets do not include a book. Discounted books can be added to your ticket during checkout on Eventbrite. All tickets to the event include a chance to sample a variety of dishes from her book.
General Admission Tickets include:

Notes:
The general admission ticket does not include a cookbook. Books can be added on during the purchase of your ticket. Additional signed copies of the author's books will be available for purchase at the event. Also note this is a standing event (there will be some first come first serve chairs).
