About this Event
The holidays are supposed to be the fun part of the year. For a lot of people they're also the most anxious part, and nobody really talks about that.
So we're doing something about it, with flour and butter.
Join Caroline Johnston, founder of GreenIsland Bakery, for a hands-on evening of holiday baking in her NE DC kitchen. Caroline will walk everyone through her holiday bakes, you'll get your hands in the dough, and you'll take home what you make. Come with a partner, bring a friend, or come on your own and meet people. No baking experience required, not even a little.
Why we're doing it
Every ticket supports Project Blackbird, a national youth mental health nonprofit that sheds shame around mental health through storytelling, professional athlete panels, and free access to care. Since 2022 we've reached more than 70,000 young people through 90+ events and school programs, and we've funded 800+ therapy sessions for students who needed them. Learn more at www.projectblackbirdinc.org.
Baking is one of the oldest stress remedies there is. It makes you slow down, use your hands, and focus on one thing at a time. That's a pretty good way to spend a Tuesday night in November.
