The City of College Park will celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with Bailamos! on Friday, September 18, from 6–9 p.m. at the newly renovated Duvall Field (9119 Rhode Island Ave.) Residents are invited to join us for an evening of music, dancing, food and family-friendly activities celebrating the rich traditions and contributions of Hispanic and Latino communities. The evening will feature live music from Leonardo Garcia y Son Horizonte, a Washington, D.C.-area ensemble known for its lively blend of Latin Jazz and Salsa. Their music will provide the perfect soundtrack for an evening of dancing and celebration.
In addition to live music, Bailamos! will feature food vendors, community exhibitors, inflatables and crafts for kids. Residents can enjoy authentic cuisine, connect with local organizations and resources, and celebrate with friends, family and neighbors.
The event marks the beginning of Hispanic Heritage Month, observed annually from September 15 through October 15. The national observance began in 1968 as Hispanic Heritage Week before being expanded to a month-long celebration in 1988. Today, Hispanic Heritage Month recognizes the history, achievements and contributions of Hispanic Americans and celebrates the cultural traditions that continue to enrich communities across the country.
Bailamos! is a chance for the College Park community to come together and celebrate that heritage right here at home. Mark your calendar for Friday, September 18, from 6–9 p.m. at Duvall Field, and join us for an evening of music, dancing, food and community pride.
