About this Event
Before you rake and bag those fallen leaves this fall, join us to learn why leaving them be can make a big difference for local wildlife. Leaf litter isn't just yard waste, it's essential habitat for a huge range of insects, from moths and butterflies overwintering as pupae to beetles, spiders, and other invertebrates that forage, shelter, and lay eggs in the leafy layer.
We'll explore which species depend on leaf litter to survive the winter, how this humble habitat supports the broader food web (hello, hungry birds come spring!), and simple ways you can rethink fall cleanup to help your yard become a haven for biodiversity.
Come discover how doing a little less yard work can do a lot more good for the insects and ecosystems right outside your door.
