Frome Community Bike Project celebrates International Women’s Day with ‘Back on the Saddle’ event.Come along to a friendly, supportive event for International Women’s Day, to help women rediscover cycling or try it for the first time. ‘Back on the Saddle’ will be a relaxed, drop-in session taking place at the FCBP Workshop, Sunday 8th March, 10am - 1pm, focused on building confidence, sharing information and meeting others in a welcoming environment.
Whether your bike’s been gathering dust or you’re feeling a bit nervous about getting started, you’ll learn how to give your bike a simple safety check, get tips on safer, quieter routes around Frome, and have the chance to meet new cycling buddies.
You don’t need to have a bike to take part, just come and find out about FCBP and ask anything cycling related. You're also invited to bring your bike along for a free safety check. There will be information on choosing the right bike, the correct size and essential safety equipment – you can even try some out. Find out about child seats, trailers, cargo bikes, and how to cycle safely with children, or getting back on a bike with kids.
Led by experienced female volunteers, Back on the Saddle is relaxed, encouraging and judgement free. There is no pressure, no pace setting and no prior experience needed. Just a chance to connect, learn and build confidence on two wheels. There will be tea and cake, with plenty of time to chat, ask questions. Come on your own or with a friend. You don’t need to be “a cyclist” – just curious!
