About this Event
The Frome Youth Climate Action Group invites you to a showing of Future Council, (PG) directed by Damon Gameau (known for 2040 and That Sugar Film).
Future Council follows eight children on a biofuel-powered road trip across Europe as they challenge powerful leaders and seek solutions to ecological crises. The film celebrates youth leadership and imagines a future shaped by hope, courage, and collective action.
Join us for this wonderful and moving film where children explore what it takes to create change, as they go from meetings with some of the most powerful CEOs in the world to their own open, honest and playful adventures together.
After the film, there will be a panel discussion with members of Frome Youth Climate Group.
Tickets for this Future Council screening and Q&A are free, but need to be booked in advance. The screening is for all people aged 8+.
The film showing follows on from a procession from 11am to 12pm through Frome led by Frome Youth Climate Action Group, a dynamic group of local young environmental activists aged 12 to 18. The group will carry Plastic Bones through the town - a handmade globe sculpture which they have created from rubbish collected on local streets along with natural and recycled materials. Plastic Bones symbolises the heavy burden of plastic pollution on our planet and the vital role of young people play in holding up its future. The group will be sharing actions which we can all take locally to tackle this worldwide problem.

More information if you need it!
The Frome Youth Climate Action Group is a new initiative supporting a team of 12–18-year-olds in Frome to lead climate action in their own way. This core group will design and deliver activities, campaigns or events that engage other young people — building a movement of youth-led climate energy across the town. PLEASE CONTACT [email protected] if you'd like to get involved.
Aims & Benefits
This project is about action, not overwhelm. It gives young people space to shape change on their terms — to imagine, organise, and make things happen. Our aim is to:
- Offer real-life opportunities to learn, collaborate and gain volunteer experience
- Centre young voices and ideas in Frome’s climate conversation
- Spark positive momentum and hope-led action
- Enable peer-to-peer learning and engagement
- Strengthen intergenerational connections and shared learning
- Build on the energy already alive in Frome’s schools and youth groups
- Create a structure that supports long-term youth participation
The benefits ripple out — not just for the environment, but for health, confidence, community connection and a sense of purpose.
Why bother?
Because climate anxiety can be lonely.
75% of young people in the UK say they’re worried about climate change. It can feel huge and scary - like there’s nothing you can do.
But here’s the truth: You can do a lot. And you don’t have to do it alone.
Small actions, done together, make a big difference. And when you see other people -across Frome and around the world - doing their bit too, it feels powerful.
Partners
This project is part of Future Shed, supported by Green & Healthy Frome. It builds on partnerships with Earth House at Frome College, local eco-councils, home education networks and youth groups across the town.
