Our second concert of the season takes us from Bach to Britten, exploring how composers have drawn inspiration from the music of earlier generations. We begin with Britten's youthful Sinfonietta, before turning to two of Bach's finest concertos: the Brandenburg Concerto No. 5 and the Triple Concerto for flute, violin and keyboard. We finish with Stravinsky's Dumbarton Oaks, a twentieth-century work that owes more than a little to Bach's Brandenburg Concertos.Joining us are pianist Alice Power, flautist Laura Jellicoe and violinist David Milsom, in a programme that brings our musicians to the fore as soloists and chamber players.
