About this Event
This fall, B Active Ballet is back with a drop-in series curated for Black women who want to move their bodies, try something different and experience ballet in a space where they can feel comfortable, supported and seen.
Whether you've never stepped foot in a ballet studio, took classes years ago, or joined us for our first B Active Ballet Series, you are welcome here.
This isn't about perfection or fitting into anyone's idea of what a ballerina should look like.
It's about moving intentionally, building community and having fun while you do it.
What to expect:
Week 1 & 2: Barre, Positions of the Feet and Arms
Week 3 & 4: Flexibility, Conditioning and Centre Work (jumps, kicks, turns in the centre)
Week 5 & 6: Travelling Work (jumps, turns and kicks that travel)
Week 7 & 8: Review and Choreography
Please note: there will be no class over Canadian Thanksgiving weekend.
Each class will guide you through ballet technique and movement in a welcoming, beginner-friendly environment.
And because this is a drop-in series, you don't have to attend every class to be part of the experience. Join us for one, come for a few, or make Sundays at the barre part of your fall routine.
However, we do encourage participants to attend all sessions to experience the full progression and benefits of the program.
Who is this for?
You.
Especially if you've ever thought:
“I've always wanted to try ballet, but…”
Consider this your invitation. No previous ballet experience is required.
More than a ballet class
Come for the ballet. Stay for the laughs, the progress, the Sunday catch-ups and the women beside you at the barre.
Spaces are limited to keep the class experience welcoming and supportive so register now!
