Lekcsör Cholnoky Jenő kalandos élete nyomán
A lélekharang hármat üt: nekem innen el kell menni. A sós víz átitatja ruháimat. Csípi a bőrömet, a karcolásokat rajta. Derékig süllyedve állok a tengerben, a sirályok vészesen alacsonyan repülnek. Mögöttem sikolyt hallok, családi menedékház hívja vissza kóbor gyermekét. Nem fordulok vissza. Fölöttem a Hold vicsorog, „úgysem mered” – suttogja fülembe. Nyakig süllyedek.
Cholnoky Jenő (1870-1950) egyetemi tanár, utazó, a 20. század kiemelkedő földrajztudósa volt. Monodrámánk szabadon értelmezi írásait, amelyben magánéletéről, utazásairól vall. Ez nem egy biografikus előadás: sem emberileg, sem színházilag nem törekedtünk arra, hogy Cholnoky Jenő életét és személyét pontosan rekreáljuk a színpadon! Arra kerestünk válaszokat, hogy huszonéves fiatalként hogyan tudunk személyéhez, világban szerzett tapasztalataihoz kapcsolódni, és azokra szabadon asszociálni. Az előadás posztdramatikus jellege pedig hasonlót kér a nézőtől: kalandozzon bátran!

Liber după viața aventuroasă a lui Cholnoky Jenő
Clopotul mortului bate de trei ori: trebuie să plec de-aici. Apa sărată îmi îmbibă hainele. Mă ustură pielea, zgârieturile de pe ea. Stau cufundat până la brâu în mare, pescărușii zboară periculos de jos. În spatele meu aud un țipăt, adăpostul familial își cheamă înapoi copilul rătăcitor. Nu mă întorc. Deasupra mea Luna rânjește, „oricum n-ai să îndrăznești” – îmi șoptește la ureche. Mă scufund până la gât.
Cholnoky Jenő (1870-1950) a fost profesor universitar, călător, unul dintre marii geografi ai secolului al **-lea. Monodrama noastră interpretează liber scrierile sale, în care vorbește despre viața personală și călătorii. Acesta nu este un spectacol biografic: nici din punct de vedere uman, nici teatral nu am urmărit să recreăm cu exactitate viața și persoana lui Cholnoky Jenő pe scenă! Am căutat răspunsuri la întrebarea cum ne putem raporta, ca tineri de douăzeci și ceva de ani, la persoana sa și la experiențele sale de viață dobândite prin lume, și cum putem asocia liber pe marginea lor. Caracterul postdramatic al spectacolului cere ceva similar și din partea spectatorului: să se aventureze!

Lecture adapted from the adventurous life of Cholnoky Jenő
The death bell tolls three times: I have to get away. The salty water soaks my clothes. It stings my skin, the scratches on it. I stand submerged to my waist in the sea, the seagulls are flying dangerously low. Behind me I hear a screech, the family shelter calling its stray child back. I'm not turning around. Above me the Moon sneers, "you won't dare anyway" – it whispers in my ear. I'm sinking up to my neck.
Cholnoky Jenő (1870–1950) was a university professor, traveler, and one of the leading geographers of the 20th century. Our monodrama freely interprets his writings, in which he speaks about his personal life and travels. This is not a biographical performance: neither on a human nor on a theatrical level did we aim to accurately recreate the life and person of Cholnoky Jenő on stage! What we sought were answers to how, as people in our twenties, we can relate to him and to the experiences he gathered in the world, and how we can freely associate around them. The postdramatic nature of the performance asks something similar of the audience: venture boldly!
