About this Event
Our annual celebration of river lovers on the banks of our Avon to honour the water that connects the communities of our bioregion together.
Talks will be hosted by local River Bride Mrs Meg Avon and We Are Avon founder Hamish Evans featuring:
- Discussions about water quality and our new citizen's scinece testing programme with expert Ash Smith from Channel 4's Dirty Business
- Food and Land Hub and farm cluster updates - We Are Avon will have a new base, hear from our new hub coordinator about how to get involved
- Introductions and updates from all of our Avon River Guardians
- The latest news on the Avon Bioregional Charter of river rights and the UK River Rights movement from professor Elena Blanco from the University of the West of England
After the talks there will be interactive workshops about how river guardians or others can get involved with any of the above themes.
We will eat delicious local and seasonal food prepared by Bath Community Kitchen and cakes from a local caterer.
In the evening there will be a set-list of incredible musicians and performers from talented members of our community.
We are looking forward to celebrating with you!

Info: Ash Smith founded Windrush Against Sewage Pollution with his colleague Prof Peter Hammond in 2017 in response to the water regulators denying the obvious plight of their local river and the links to the water industry. Some of that story is depicted in Channel 4s factual drama, Dirty Business and WASP's role in exposing the truth at a national level continues and develops around a small hub of largely retired specialists from a range of disciplines. Ash is a former Police Detective Superintendent with a lifelong love and respect for nature and a lot less affinity for abuse, deceit and corruption.
