The Avenues Street Fair is back. Saturday, October 10, on 1st Avenue from K to O Street.Close the street, open the neighborhood. That's the whole idea, and it still works every single year.
Around 200 vendors are setting up shop, and this year's featured theme is Animals of the Avenues. Wander through the People's Art Gallery, where professional judges pick their favorites and you get a vote too. You can get a protrait of your pet. Stop by the auction booth and buy a raffle ticket for a brand new Traeger Grill.
Every dollar raised stays close to home. It funds the Newsletter, Memory Grove Cleanup, the Avenues Community Garden, the Water-Wise Demonstration Garden, and Night Out Against Crime.
Bring your people. Bring your pets. Wear shoes you can walk in, because you'll run into someone you know every twenty feet and it'll take you an hour to go one block. That's the good part.
