The event will be held in the larger room at Tea By The Lock. Those who come to the workshop will be welcome to buy refreshements at the lovely plant-based tearoom.
The workshop is run by a talented local artist and illustrator specialising in pen and ink techniques. If you are new to drawing and painting plants, this is a great workshop for trying out drawing from nature in pencil and/or pen, and combining this with 'wash' in paint. If you have more experience and would like to expand your art experience, this would be a great chance to explore line and wash illustration.
Autumn is a wonderful time to draw from nature, with an array of subjects and the beautiful seasonal colours.
I will provide some examples of my work as inspiration, and give a demonstration, and then you will be free to have a go yourself. I will bring examples of autumnal natural items, such as leaves and berries, and pictures for those who find that easier to work from.
There will be a selection of art materials to share and try, including pencils, pens and paint, as well as paper and brushes. If you wanted to bring your own sketchbook or paper to work on, or if you have favourite brushes you wish to use, you'd be welcome to do so.
If you are worried about getting messy (some of the pens are permanent), you may wish to bring an apron and gloves, and it is worth remembering your glasses if you wear them.
Tea By The Lock is a wonderful venue, and the location itself offers a relaxed atmosphere, is dog-friendly, and is close to both a bus stop and the lock carpark. It is past the caravan park, down the track through the gate, and to the right, by the Lock.
