About Boot: Roland “Boot” Boutwell, a freelance itinerant naturalist, has been leading nature walks for the Friends of the Fells for over 25 years. He has also led walks and/or taught botany programs for a number of other organizations including The Trustees of Reservations, Arlington Community Education, The Massachusetts Association of Conservation Commissions, Winchester public schools, Wright-Locke Farm in Winchester, The New England Wild Flower Society and the Massachusetts Audubon Society.
About the walk: We’ll travel out of The Fells to beautiful Wright-Locke Farm in Winchester looking for late blooming wildflowers and plants that are in fruit. We’ll also look for winter weeds, those hardy herbaceous (non-woody) plants whose skeletons decorate the autumn and winter land-scape. The walk will focus on plant identification and natural history, and will include a seasonal poem or two as well as a couple of readings about the plants we see. Leader: Boot Boutwell (781-729-4712).
