ABOUT SHANNA IN A DRESS
Shanna in a Dress is your quirky best friend who refuses to wear pants. An award-winning songwriter known for her extreme candor, clever humor, and deeply honest songs, Shanna takes audiences on an emotional roller coaster—sometimes within the same song. Think female Steve Poltz meets Ingrid Michaelson with a little Phoebe Buffay thrown in.
A true road warrior, Shanna plays more than 100 shows a year across the country and has shared the stage with Steve Poltz, Ellis Paul, Susan Werner, Christine Lavin, and other folk legends. She’s also a sought-after songwriting coach and has won major songwriting competitions including Kerrville New Folk and the Rocky Mountain Folks Fest Song Showcase.
Her latest album, Sweet Spot, was released in June 2026, with more music already on the way. And in 2021, she biked across the country from Seattle to Boston, performing more than 60 shows along the way as part of her unforgettable “Tour de Dress.”

The Songwriter Soiree is one of the largest communities of songwriters and music lovers in the Pacific Northwest. Founded in 2009 as a monthly living room potluck event, it has grown into a multifaceted organization that offers various experiences for songwriters and music enthusiasts. The Soiree brings together songwriters and musicians of all skill levels and genres, to nurture creativity, deepen our musical expression, foster collaboration, and create an inspiring and supportive space for personal expression.
