Autism and Transition to Adulthood
UWE Bristol, in collaboration with Autism Independence, is pleased to invite you to a practical and insightful workshop focused on understanding autism within diverse communities and exploring effective ways to provide support.
This session explores the journey into adulthood for autistic young people, focusing on planning, inclusion, and independence.
Transition Process. Planning the Journey Ahead
We explore how the transition from childhood to adulthood is structured, including key milestones, planning processes, and how to prepare for changes across education, health, and social care systems.
Access to Community. Belonging Beyond School
This section looks at how autistic young people can engage with community life, including access to social activities, local services, and opportunities that support inclusion and participation beyond education.
Independence. Building Life on Your Terms
We consider what independence can look like in practice, including developing life skills, supporting decision-making, managing daily living, and building confidence for adult life.
Social Care: Support That Fits Real Life
We look at how social care support is accessed, including assessments, eligibility criteria, and the types of practical support available to autistic people and families, including during key life transitions.
The session aims to make systems easier to understand and support individuals and families in knowing what support is available and how to access it.
