The Dementia Wellbeing Service: Carers, looking after yourself
Host: Dementia Wellbeing Servicde

Info: Supporting a person with dementia can be positive and rewarding, but it can also be challenging. Looking after yourself is important for both you and the person you are supporting. If you are caring for a person with dementia, then you will know that it isn’t always easy. You may at times feel worried, anxious, or frustrated. You might feel guilty about these emotions or whenever you need to do things for yourself. However, looking after yourself is vital for your health and wellbeing, and will benefit both you and the person you are caring for. We look at the challenges you may face in your caring role and ways that can help you to cope, as well as ideas that you might find helpful and the types of support that are available to you.

This is followed by an interactive session of about 20 minutes, where you’ll be able to see and handle some of the items we’ve designed and made, ask questions, and talk together about how they can help in everyday life.
