About the book
Invasive Species introduces readers to Cold Harbor, a sleepy suburb where the social expectations of the 1980s reign supreme. Beneath the manicured lawns, a real monster has emerged. Mrs. Smith, a mysterious resident of a crumbling mansion on the hill, is mesmerizing the townspeople with her ageless beauty -- a beauty she maintains through human sacrifices. While local mother Natalie Scott is distracted trying to secure her first big real estate sale, her 12-year-old daughter, Jill, and their Icelandic housekeeper, Una, are the only ones who realize the true danger. Armed with library books and grit, the unlikely duo must team up to save the town before it sinks completely into fear and jealousy.
