📚 Author Talk: Looking Past Dementia with Marysue Moses 📚📍 Knollwood Place Apartments, 3630 Phillips Parkway, St. Louis Park
🗓️ Friday, October 30
🕑 2:00 PM
Join us for a special author talk with Marysue Moses, dementia educator, former memory care coordinator, and author of Looking Past Dementia: Learning from Those Who Live with It.
When someone receives a dementia diagnosis, conversations often focus on loss. But Moses invites us to ask a different question: what can we learn from the people actually living with it? Drawing on more than 20 years in dementia care — and her own family's experience — Moses will share how looking past symptoms and diagnoses can help us see the personality, humor, emotion, and humanity that remain.
Moses brings an unexpected background to this work: theater. Before moving into dementia care, she trained in theater in London and worked with Minneapolis's Illusion Theater. Those skills — storytelling, improvisation, presence, and observation — now shape her approach to connecting meaningfully with people experiencing cognitive change.
Her book, released in August by Emerald Lake Books, has already earned a 2026 Readers' Choice Book Award Silver Medal in Adult Nonfiction, and has been praised for offering a hopeful, humanizing vision of dementia care.
Come hear real stories, practical insights, and a fresh perspective on caregiving, connection, and what dementia can't take away.
🎁 The first 10 registrants will receive a FREE copy of Looking Past Dementia (1 book per household)!
Please RSVP to Alex Carlon at [email protected]
We look forward to seeing you there!
