Summer 1909. A young naive mother arrives in the Cobalt mining camp with her young daughter, eager to reunite with her husband and begin a new life in "the silver capital of the world."
Then typhoid strikes the mines.
With her husband desperately ill and no money to pay for his care, Maude takes a dangerous job nursing victims of the epidemic. As the death toll rises, she rallies other mothers to demand help.
But the mine owners are determined to keep the epidemic hidden.
And Maude has everything to lose.
“You’ll root for Maude as she finds her voice and her purpose.”
