Acclaimed UK singer-songwriter Katherine Priddy will return to Australia in January 2027 for a run of headline shows and festival appearances in support of her acclaimed third album, These Frightening Machines, out now via Cooking Vinyl. The tour sees Priddy return to Australia following previous visits in 2022 and 2024. Her first Australian shows came in 2022, including an appearance at the renowned Port Fairy Folk Festival, before returning in 2024 to perform at both Port Fairy Folk Festival and Blue Mountains Music Festival in Katoomba.
She now returns with her most extensive Australian headline run to date, taking in Brisbane, Northern Rivers, Melbourne, Sydney, Hobart and Canberra, alongside appearances at Cygnet Folk Festival in Tasmania and Illawarra Folk Festival in New South Wales.
The Australian dates arrive following a significant period for Priddy and the release of These Frightening Machines, her most ambitious record to date. Released in March 2026 via Cooking Vinyl, the album achieved the highest UK chart positions of her career, reaching No. 1 on the Official Record Store Top 20 Chart and Official UK Americana Chart, No. 2 on the Official UK Independent Chart, No. 2 on official Folk Chart, No. 4 on the Official UK Physical Chart and No. 21 on the Official UK Top 40 Album Chart.
WIDESPREAD CRITICAL PRAISE FOR THESE FRIGHTENING MACHINES
“It’s gripping and gorgeous in equal measure” - Uncut
“She has made another gem.” - Mail on Sunday
“Her songwriting remains precise and poetic. Musically it’s a giant step forward.” - The Observer
“On her third album, she takes her craft to the next level, joining the dots between tradition and sophisticated, contemporary vibes” - The Sun
“A singer-songwriter of rare calibre” - De Volkskrant
“I wonder if this will be the best folk-pop album of the year” – Gaffa
The album was followed by Priddy’s biggest UK headline tour to date, with 16 of its 21 dates selling out, including London’s Union Chapel, Manchester’s Stoller Hall, Bristol St George’s, Leeds Howard Assembly Room and a hometown finale at Birmingham Town Hall.
Produced by Rob Ellis (PJ Harvey, Anna Calvi, Marianne Faithfull, Bat For Lashes) and recorded at The Glaucus House, Middle Farm Studios in rural Devon, These Frightening Machines was written as Priddy made the transition from her twenties into her thirties.
“If the first album was for building a foundation, and the second album was about reinforcing what I’d already begun, the third album felt to me like a chance to be bolder, push out and try something new,” says Priddy.
The album sees Priddy expand the intimate finger-picked songwriting for which she first became known into a broader and more sonically adventurous record, exploring identity, the body, relationships, ageing, illness and connection. Guests include American singer-songwriter TORRES, who duets on “Madeleine”, Richard Walters on “I’m Always Willing”, and multi-instrumentalist Ben Christophers.
Since her last Australian visit in 2024, Priddy’s career has continued to gather considerable momentum. She has performed on Later… with Jools Holland, collaborated and released music with UK Poet Laureate Simon Armitage, recorded a duet with Johnny Flynn as the title track for the 2025 feature film Four Letters of Love, toured with Suzanne Vega, and released These Frightening Machines to some of the strongest reviews and chart positions of her career.
