The exhibition experience introduces a new body of work by multidisciplinary artist Anemone Mars, an Indigenous woman whose practice is shaped by intuition, lineage, memory & lived experience, moving across painting, image & immersive expression.
.
Working primarily in acrylic, Mars brings together figurative and abstract painting through layered glazes, interference
pigments, luminous surfaces & gold leaf. The work is shaped by intuition, lineage, memory & lived experience. Its central
principle is transmutation, the recognition of being & the ways experience becomes material.
.
“This isn’t survival. This is the recognition of being,” Mars says. Rather than depicting loss or reinvention, AURELIAN
considers what remains present through the experiences that shape a life. The collection brings painting, image &
atmosphere into a shared encounter.
.
As a lifelong artist, Mars is emerging into this particular chapter of her practice through a more intentional public presentation of fine art, bringing together disciplines & ways of seeing that have existed throughout her life but are now being articulated through a singular exhibition experience.
.
AURELIAN begins after the obvious story has already ended. It does not ask what was destroyed. It asks what remains. Built around the principle of transmutation, the exhibition considers the ways experience becomes material: how memory, desire, rupture, beauty, inheritance & intimacy can move through a life without becoming its final definition.
.
The exhibition also features the artistry of Choclo Clayton of NeoAncient Collective, whose jewelry & material practice extend
the conversation between adornment, memory & form.
Visitors are invited to attend the Friday opening reception and meet the artists. The exhibition continues Saturday & Sunday,
offering a limited opportunity to experience the collection during its inaugural presentation.
.
