7604 - Little Acts @ LTM
One Act Festival
AUDITIONS: 11/15 (Sun) & 11/16 (Mon)
PERFORMANCES: 01/22 (Fri) - 02/07 (Sun)
LTM’s inaugural one-act festival featuring multiple short, self-contained plays, typically 10–45 minutes each, performed over a three week period. Our festival will spotlight emerging playwrights, directors, and actors, allowing them to showcase new work and creative collaboration.
AUDITION NOTES
Little Acts are:
• One act plays of 10-45 minutes in duration;
• Suitable for performance in a black box theater;
• Written by local playwrights, and provided royalty-free to LTM;
We will need actors to bring these scripts and characters to life!We anticipate selecting the full slate of scripts by or before September 30, 2026.
Auditions, if needed, will be scheduled as soon as the full slate of scripts is selected.
As an actor, what should I have prepared for my audition?
There is no need to prepare a monologue, as sides from the relevant scripts will be provided. However, if a musical is selected, and you are interested in participating with that production, we will ask for a song to be prepared. See the audition announcement(s) for more information.
What do you mean by “local”?
Generally speaking, playwrights located in Central Pennsylvania, although interest has come from as far away as Baltimore.
Can I perform in more than one production?
Yes, but we would recommend no more than three across the entire festival. We reserve the right to limit this further, as needed.
Can I act and direct for the same production?
Our preference would be no, but this will be addressed on a case-by-case basis.
Can I act in one production, but direct a different one, or otherwise provide support to another production?
Yes, however, while we do not want to discourage any enthusiasm, we will be monitoring these commitments to protect the quality of the festival – so case-by-case again.
How many plays will be selected?
As few as two (2) and up to nine (9) plays may be selected. The performance schedule will be modified based on the number of works selected. The festival in planned to hold nine or ten (10) overall performances, so the fewer the selections, the more performances there may be. Nine plays would result in three performances each across the festival calendar, while two plays would result in nine or ten performances.
What will be the rehearsal schedule?
The director, in coordination with their cast, will determine the rehearsal schedule. Plays of less complexity may rehearse less than a more complicated production. Given the timing of the festival, there is also the consideration of the holiday period and what those commitments may be. Space will be at a premium, and that may impact the schedule also. A standard LTM production normally rehearses Monday through Thursday evenings, and that can represent the maximum, but that circumstance is unlikely.
How will the playwright participate if their work is selected?
There is no specific obligation to the production. If selected, the piece will be handed off to the director for interpretation, casting, and facilitating the performance. A biography may be requested for inclusion in the festival programs, but the intent is for the playwright to remain separate. For example, we don’t perform a séance to obtain William Shakespeare’s opinions or participation for one of his works, do we?
