CLAIRE — Female, 29 | Playing age: 27–35
Catherine’s practical, polished older sister, who genuinely wants to care for her but often expresses that concern by taking charge. Organized and confident, Claire’s relationship with Catherine is loving but strained.
HAL — Male, 28 | Playing age: 26–35
A former student of Robert’s, Hal is an intelligent, earnest, slightly awkward mathematician searching through his mentor’s notebooks for undiscovered work. His growing relationship with Catherine is complicated by his doubts about her abilities.
ROBERT — Male, 50s | Playing age: 50–65
Catherine and Claire’s father, a once-celebrated mathematician whose brilliant career was interrupted by severe mental illness. Warm, charismatic, funny, and deeply vulnerable, he appears both in Catherine’s imagination and in scenes from the past.
