AUDITIONS!PETER PAN: THE BOY WHO HATED MOTHERS

September 26 & 27 from 11:00am to 2:00pm
Auditions will consist of readings from script excerpts.
Auditioners will be expected to acknowledge and agree to follow our code of conduct. Copies will be posted and can be viewed anytime at bctstage.org/about.

Performances December 11, 12, 13, 18, 19, & 20
Rehearsals will tentatively take place Mon-Thu from 6:30-9:30pm, October 5 through December 10, with possible extended hours during tech week (Dec 6-10).

~ About the Play ~
Peter Pan: The Boy Who Hated Mothers is a dark, mature stage adaptation that explores the raw, psychological terror and grief beneath J.M. Barrie's original writing. This visceral new adaptation works from the original source materials to craft a darker, scarier, and more dimensional version of Peter Pan for a modern audience.

PETER PAN
Principal, Physical Role
Haunting, otherworldly, ageless, magical boy. He still has his baby teeth, his first laugh. Aggressive, manic, impulsive, has a strange power that draws everyone to him.
WENDY DARLING/JANE
Principal, RP British Accent
[as WENDY] Age 12. The heart of the play, at the end of childhood, going through the beginning stages of puberty. She is clever, her mind and body are changing a lot. [as JANE] Age 10. Wendy's daughter, curious and brave.
MRS. DARLING/CAPTAIN HOOK/ADULT WENDY
Principal, RP British Accent
[as MRS. DARLING] Mother of the Darling children. She used to be warm, grateful, and the embodiment of motherhood but is distraught by the death of her baby and unable to function. [as HOOK] Scary, elegant, mysterious, cold, theatrical, oily, and bloodthirsty. The embodiment of a child's nightmare. [as ADULT WENDY] "She was not a little girl heart-broken about him; she was a grown woman smiling at it all, but they were wet smiles."
JOHN DARLING
Supporting, RP British Accent
Age 10. Delicate, hypertensive, highly intelligent, in danger of growing up to be the stereotypical buttoned up Englishman.
TOOTLES/SMEE
Supporting
[as TOOTLES] RP British Accent. The baby of the lost boys. Could be chubby, small or round. Sensitive, funny, sweet, melancholic, soft, “poor kind Tootles, humblest of the boys. Quite the silliest one, obsessed with mothers. [as SMEE] Cockney Accent. Hook’s right hand man, not cute and cuddly, Hook and Smee are like an old married couple, has a mean streak as well.
NIBS/BILL JUKES/TIGER LILY

[as NIBS] Northern Country Accent. Strange Lost Boy with a has a special relationship with Tinker Bell, whom he communicates with her for the others. Lots of secrets. [as BILL JUKES] Pirate. Nib’s shadow. [as TIGER LILY] Young Indian princess of her tribe. Beautiful, brave, proud, strong.
SLIGHTLY/STARKEY Supporting
[as SLIGHTLY] London Cockney accent. Lost boy. Know it all. A comedian. An improviser. A little conman. A chameleon. Scrappy. Funny. [as STARKEY] Pirate. Slightly’s shadow.
