Auditions will consist of cold-reads from the script. Please bring your completed audition form, and any scheduling conflicts; Headshots and resumes optional.
SYNOPSIS:
A non-stop physical comedy that turns the world of theatre on its head! A cast of has-been actors plan to revive their careers in “Drop Dead!,” a potboiler murder mystery directed by “Wonder Child of the Broadway Stage” Victor Le Pewe. At the dress rehearsal the set falls apart around them, props break, and the producer and an actor are murdered. But the show must go on! And so it does, but at the opening night performance, the murders continue and the play goes incredibly wrong. The remaining thespians must save the show and their careers, solve the mystery, and somehow
survive until the curtain calls.
CHARACTER DETAILS:
Seeking a diverse group of actors (ages 18+)
VICTOR LE PEWE – The Director; psychotic, confident, wants to prove to everyone he’s still the Wonder Child of the Broadway Stage
P.G. BANKS – The Producer; a lecherous cigar-chomping, old-school man
PHILLIP – The Stage Manager; also the set designer, prop designer, lighting designer, technical director, and everything else. In love with Victor and will do anything for him and the show
ALABAMA MILLER – The Playwright; possibly an alcoholic, disappointed that their life’s work isn’t taken seriously, willing to take matters into their own hands
MONA MONET – The TV Actress; once a glamorous star and still demands top treatment
BRENT REYNOLDS – The Method Actor; a dashing leading man, arrogant, pretentious, trying to work his way back to the top
CHAZ LOONEY – The Apprentice Actor; a newbie playing a role much older than his actual age, has trouble memorizing his lines
CANDY APPLES – The Producer’s Girlfriend; a former “adult film” star trying to make it as a serious actor
CONSTANCE CRAWFORD – The Legendary Star; once a celebrated diva of the stage, but now well past retirement age, hard of hearing
DICK SCORSESE – Martin Scorsese’s cousin; a last minute replacement actor just trying to get through rehearsals
