ABOUT THE PLAY
What happens when coming home means facing everything you left behind?
In Donald Margulies' funny and poignant Brooklyn Boy, novelist Eric Weiss finds professional success just as his personal life begins to unravel. His marriage is ending, his father is seriously ill, and an old friend challenges him to reckon with his past.
Jewish Theatre of Oklahoma is seeking actors who can bring humor, warmth, and emotional depth to this story of family, friendship, and belonging.
AVAILABLE ROLES
ERIC WEISS (40s–50s)
A successful novelist whose autobiographical novel has become a bestseller. Intelligent, ambitious, and articulate, Eric is also emotionally guarded and conflicted about his family, his marriage, and his success.

Eric's father, a longtime Brooklyn shoe salesman who is seriously ill. Proud and traditional, Manny loves his son but has difficulty expressing his feelings and understanding Eric's choices.

Eric's wife, also a writer. Their marriage is ending. Intelligent and perceptive, Nina knows Eric well and is not afraid to challenge him.
ALISON (20s)
A young university student and aspiring writer who meets Eric at a book signing. Bright, energetic, and fascinated by Eric and his work.
MELANIE FINE (40s–50s)
A Hollywood film producer interested in turning Eric's novel into a movie. Confident, fast-talking, and commercially minded.
TYLER SHAW (20s–30s)
A young actor being considered to play Eric in the film adaptation. Charming and self-assured, Tyler has his own interpretation of Eric and his story.
We look forward to seeing you at auditions!
