This is a warm and hopeful Christmas show that will engage the entire family. A group of strangers are stranded in a train station on Christmas Eve due to a snow storm. Their train is broken down. It is unable to make the journey to Boston. Each passenger has their own urgent need to get to Boston this night. The script was adapted by Joseph Robinette from the book “Can this be Christmas” by Debbie Macomber. Director: Sharon Dennis

Characters:
-Cathy Norris- Recently widowed. On her way to spend Christmas with her daughter.
-Matt Mchugh- On a business trip. Has wife and 2 children at home. Difficulties with marriage. Late 30's
-Elise Jones- Mother of 5 year old daughter. Newly divorced. Going to spend Christmas with her mother.
-Kate- Elise's daughter aged 5. Could extend to age 8.
-Len- Age 24. Sailor. Going to Texas to propose to his girl.
-Nick Berry- New father of baby.
-Kelly Berry- New mother of baby.
-Sam Larson- Soon to be first time grandfather. Going for the birth of the baby.
-Louise Larson- Soon to be first time grandmother. Sam's wife.
-Clayton Kemper- Station master at the station where they are stranded.
-Dean Owen- Choir Director from local church. (Small part.)
-Three Women-Members of Dean's choir.
Also play the parts of Matt's wife on the phone.
Len's girlfriend reading his letter, and
Cathy's daughter on the phone with her.

Auditions will be cold readings and other activities. No preparation is needed in advance. It is not necessary to attend both audition dates. If you are interested and cannot make either date, please contact Sharon Dennis [email protected].
There will be a read through and one or two rehearsals between auditions and Oct 10. Beginning Oct 18, rehearsals will probably be three days a week depending on cast scheduled. Tech week begins the Sunday after Thanksgiving with rehearsals every day. Performances are the first weekend in December. Everyone must be available to rehearse during tech week.
Actors will be able to disclose their comfort levels to the intimacy directors. ANY intimacy will be staged by the intimacy directors.
