Character List:
CHRIS (50s) – Outgoing, confident, and the life of the party. Loves an audience and lives for a little mischief. One half of an inseparable best-friend duo with Annie.**
ANNIE (50s) – Warm, practical, and a little more reserved than Chris, but just as mischievous when they’re together. Chris’s longtime best friend and partner in crime. The two bring out the very best (and occasionally worst) in each other.**
CORA (40s) – Witty, resilient, and independent, with a dry, deadpan sense of humor. Must be able to sing comfortably; basic piano skills are a plus but not required.**
JESSIE (late 60s–70s) – Bold, adventurous, outspoken, and unapologetically herself. A memorable former teacher with little patience for nonsense.**
CELIA (50s) – Wealthy, polished, and somewhat out of place among the others. Beneath her privileged exterior is a rebellious streak and a genuine admiration for Jessie.**
RUTH (40s) – Kindhearted and eager to please, but stronger than she initially appears. Struggling to find her confidence and independence.**
MARIE (50s) – Controlling, status-conscious, and fiercely protective of her position in the WI. Beneath her carefully constructed exterior are insecurities and unfulfilled dreams.
JOHN (50s) – Annie’s husband. Warm, easygoing, and genuinely good-hearted. A loyal friend who makes everyone around him feel at home.
ROD (50s) – Chris’s husband. Hardworking, good-humored, and devoted to Chris. Shares a dry wit and an easy friendship with John.
LAWRENCE (late 20s) – Shy but quietly witty. A young photographer who finds himself in an unusual situation with the WI.
LADY CRAVENSHIRE (60s) – An upper-class aristocrat whose well-meaning manner can come across as patronizing. Makes an impression wherever she goes.
ELAINE (20s) – A young beautician whose demeanor contrasts with Jessie’s unconventional outlook.
LIAM (late 20s) – A professional photographer, somewhat weary of his assignment but committed to doing his job.
Show Synopsis
After Annie’s husband John dies of leukemia, she and her best friend Chris persuade fellow Women’s Institute members to help raise funds for a new settee in the local hospital waiting room. Their fundraiser—an alternative calendar featuring the women posing nude—takes off, and friendship is tested by newfound fame.
Based on the true stories of eleven WI members who posed nude to raise money for the Leukemia Research Fund.
Show Dates: February 5, 6, 7, 12, 13, & 14, 2027
Rated R: Nudity, Adult Themes, & Discussions of Terminal Illness/Death/Grief
