About this Event
Meet interpreters portraying U.S. Marines and people connected to the community, hear the stories of Harpers Ferry residents and formerly enslaved people, and explore the experiences of John Brown and those who joined him.
National Park Service staff and volunteers from the U.S. Marine Corps Historical Company will demonstrate how the raid unfolded and explain why the events at Harpers Ferry reverberated across the country.
This is your opportunity to move beyond the textbook and experience the story in the place where it happened.
See living-history demonstrations. Talk directly with interpreters. Ask questions. Explore the historic streets and buildings. Discover how a confrontation lasting only a short time became a defining moment in the national debate over slavery and the growing crisis that preceded the Civil War.
Bring the family and spend the day discovering the people behind one of America’s most consequential historical events.
Programs are included with paid, usual park admission: Fees & Passes - Harpers Ferry National Historical Park (U.S. National Park Service)
