Meet in Wanaka and carpool to Cameron Flat (potential options to carpool from Invercargill). Cross the river (river crossing experience is required) and follow the Kitchener Track to Junction Flat, then continue on to Aspiring Flats. Tent overnight on the flats or sleep in the Rock of Ages Bivvy (if it can be found). DOC lists this as a challenging and technical track which requires backcountry experience. Multiple slips and river crossings, with possible quicksand. Sandflies abound. But the view of the Kitchener Cirque and waterfall is apparently incredible.Good level of fitness required.
