About this Event

ABOUT THE EVENT

The 2020’s so far has not been particularly kind to global supply chains. From ships blocked by global chokepoints, sudden and sweeping tariffs, to wars breaking out (just to name a few), it seems no one has been able to catch a break. One of the more difficult parts of all of this is communicating to customers and other partners downstream how they are being affected.

Relationships are the most important thing in keeping supply chains resilient, so learning how to properly inform them of bad news, of delays, cancelations, is an essential skill.

This professional development meeting is all about that. We’ll discuss how to approach different situations, covering factors to consider before pressing the ‘send’ button, the benefits (and limits) that automatic updates can have.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER

Paul Estella first fell in love with supply chain when he was in China for college and saw one of Foxconn’s giant factories. After returning to the US, he worked for a few years doing sales at Yelp, before eventually getting a job as a logistics coordinator at a freight forwarder. He has been in his current role as a supply chain officer at BRB International BV, a Dutch multinational silicone manufacturer, for almost 5 years now, in which he works closely with the sales team in supporting the supply chain needs for many of their largest accounts in North America. He is usually the first person to tell customers of delays, cancellations, or sudden price changes, any other issues that have come up, in addition to managing the inventory, negotiating with forwarders, helping with forecasting, and handling customs. He currently has the CSCP, PMP, ASC SSGB, and is studying for the CPIM. In his spare time, he likes to learn languages, and is fluent in Mandarin.
