Long before electricity was generated, it was conducted. The Earth is continually traversed by currents that precede and exceed electrical systems. Solar radiation, atmospheric charge, flowing water, roots, nerves and power grids each transmit transformations from one body to another.
Conductivity is not confined to metals or machines; it describes a more general capacity to receive, transform and pass something onward. A conductor is never simply an object. It exists through what moves across it.
For his exhibition Electricity, Asad Raza responds directly to the context of E-WERK Luckenwalde as a reactivated power station by artist Pablo Wendel, and approaches electricity not as an invisible utility or technological achievement, but as something earthly, ontological and sublime.
Visitors move through the site in small groups led by a conductor, who guides attention through a sequence of encounters. Electrostatic machines, moving image, sound, vibration, saltwater, amber, charcoal, ash, timber, plants and live actions appear as temporary conductors, each receiving and transmitting forces according to its own material properties..
Conceived as a single dramaturgy rather than a collection of discrete installations, the exhibition also incorporates works by Tino Sehgal and Sung Tieu. Their contributions enter into its evolving network of transmissions, extending its exploration of how movement, attention and exchange circulate between bodies. At E-WERK Luckenwalde, where electricity continues to be generated throughout the exhibition, the power station becomes more than a site of production. It becomes a place in which the invisible passages that continually compose our reality become sensible.

Asad Raza with works and contributions by Tino Sehgal and Sung Tieu as well as a film programme in three chapters featuring works by Doug Aitken, Cecilia Bengolea, Raven Chacon, Harun Farocki, Saodat Ismailova, David Lynch, Ana Mendieta, Rachel Rose and P. Staff.
Film Programme
The exhibition is accompanied by a rotating film programme unfolding in three successive chapters: Electric Sublime (12 September – 15 November 2026), Electric Earth (21 November 2026 – 14 February 2027) and Electric Power (20 February – 25 April 2027), featuring works by Ana Mendieta, Doug Aitken, Raven Chacon, Harun Farocki, P. Staff, Cecilia Bengolea, Rachel Rose and Saodat Ismailova. Each edition brings together three film works, changing over the course of the exhibition and extending its inquiry into the many forms electricity and energy can take. Moving between the earthly and the technological, the phenomenal and the sinister, the intimate and the sublime, the programme considers energy as both a material, earthly force and an ontological experience.
Visitor information
Electricity can be visited exclusively as a guided tour. Tours take place at fixed time slots and are led by a Conductor.
Because each tour has a very limited capacity, we strongly recommend booking in advance. A limited number of tickets may be available for purchase on site on the day of your visit, but entry cannot be guaranteed once a tour has reached capacity.
Cash and card payments are accepted on site.
Private Tours
Private tours can also be arranged on different dates and at different times, subject to availability. Private tours must be requested at least two weeks in advance and are available for EUR 300 (reductions available upon request). To request a private tour, please email [email protected].
Safety
Electricity takes place within a former power station and includes works and situations involving a range of sensory and physical conditions.
Depending on the work, visitors may encounter electrical charges, strong low-frequency sound and vibration, subwoofers, darkness, moving elements, uneven surfaces and other intense sensory effects.
Please follow the instructions of the Conductors and E-WERK staff at all times. Certain works may not be suitable for visitors who are particularly sensitive to loud sound, vibration, darkness or electrical phenomena.

Tickets: Advance booking strongly recommended. For the opening on 12 September it is not necessary to book a ticket. You can reserve a free timeslot for the opening here.
