ASA Ritual × The Social Hub: Japanese Calligraphy, Tasting, and Dialogue

ASA Ritual is honoured to host a special edition in collaboration with The Social Hub.

Through Japanese calligraphy, mindful tasting and open dialogue, we will explore what it means to live with intensity and complexity around us — finding a balance between cherishing our own individuality and moving through the world with awareness, respect and care for others.

This edition grew from a simple conversation between Asako (ASA Ritual) and Gabriele (The Social Hub). Having just spent a month travelling through Japan, Gabriele shared impressions and observations with Asako, a Tokyo native, offering her a fresh perspective on a place she had always known as home.

From that conversation, they decided to create a special edition of ASA Ritual centred around Japanese ways of living and philosophies.

The experience (approximately 2 hours) consists of:

• Japanese calligraphy practice —approached not as a pursuit of technique or writing "correctly," but as a reflective experience of letting go and observing what naturally emerges.
• A tasting experience — featuring several pieces of ASA’s signature plant-based sushi, inspired by gratitude and appreciation for nature’s gifts.
• A moderated dialogue —with Gabriele, a guest local speaker, Asako and participants — inviting personal reflections, cultural perspectives and shared exploration.

About Asako Kato

Asako Kato is an artist who designs and hosts ASA Ritual. After seven years of dedicated practice in plant-based sushi, she began shaping ASA Ritual — an experience informed by Japanese ways of being, family-rooted calligraphy traditions, artisanal vegetable sushi, and a focus on how people find calmness, open up, and engage in more honest dialogue.
