NORA SNYDER- Nightshades is a local experimental animation festival featuring the films of 32 different animators all hailing from Kansas and Missouri. Organized by local animator Nora Snyder, it will take place at the Stern theater at Charlotte Street foundation on November 13th and 14th, 2026. It will feature animation that uses techniques and processes beyond what is considered “industry standard” in animation today. This includes stop motion films that use physical materials in new and exciting ways, unconventional digital techniques, non-traditional narrative structures, and more. Nightshades seeks to highlight work that exists purely for the vision of the artist, outside any institutions, industries, and corporate agendas.
Nora Snyder is a multimedia artist and stop motion animator. Originally from central Illinois, she came to Kansas City to study animation at the Kansas City art institute from 2021-2024, and was a resident artist at Charlotte Street foundation from 2024-2026. Her work includes short animated films, and video installations.
More information about the festival can be found on the Charlotte Street website, or through my Instagram @noracalora.
