Four artists. Four workshops. One place to get creative.Come spend an afternoon with art at the Arts in Action Festival, where four artists are bringing four hands-on workshops together at the Urbandale Public Library.
Sunday, October 18 | 1–4 PM | Urbandale Library | FREE!
Move from one creative experience to the next. Make a cyanotype with Emma Parker. Turn wool into felt with Megan Hammer. Paint your own journal with Teri Templeton Cadman. Explore Western and Asian painting techniques with Penny Wang.
Watch. Experiment. Ask questions. Get your hands involved. Try something you’ve never tried before.
You don’t have to be an artist. You just have to be willing to make something.
Here’s what you can discover:
Emma Parker | Cyanotypes
Create a one-of-a-kind sunprint and see how light, objects and chemistry come together to create an image.
Megan Hammer | Wet-Felting
Get your hands on wool, water and soap and transform fluffy fibers into your own small piece of felted art.
Teri Templeton Cadman | Painting & Community Art
See the completed Community Collaborative Canvas created by Urbandale residents and create your own hand-painted journal to take home.
Penny Wang | Western & Asian Art
Try acrylic painting, Asian ink-brush techniques and calligraphy while exploring the different ways cultures use art to tell stories.
No experience required. No need to call yourself an artist. Just come ready to try something new.
