About this Event
Join the Arts + Health Laboratory , the City of Winterville, and community partners for a morning of inspiration, learning, and connection exploring the powerful role the arts can play in supporting healthy aging and strengthening vibrant communities.
Through storytelling and conversation, this convening will bring together leaders from healthcare, aging services, higher education, government, and the arts to examine how creative engagement can enhance cognitive health, foster social connection, and improve quality of life as we age.
The program will feature a brief screening and discussion of production Keeping Betsy, a documentary highlighting lived experiences with aging, followed by a panel of experts who will share the latest insights on the impact of the arts on the aging brain. Attendees will also learn about the role of creativity in building thriving local economies and hear from a featured artist whose work demonstrates the transformative power of artistic expression.
Whether you are a healthcare professional, caregiver, researcher, educator, artist, policymaker, or community leader, this convening offers an opportunity to explore how arts-based approaches can improve well-being, support healthy aging, and contribute to a stronger, more connected community.
The morning will conclude with a reception and networking, providing opportunities to connect with fellow attendees and continue the conversation.
About the Arts + Health Laboratory
The Arts + Health Laboratory is an initiative of the Woodruff Arts Center dedicated to advancing research, practice, and partnerships at the intersection of arts and health. Through collaborations with universities, healthcare organizations, and cultural institutions, the Laboratory seeks to better understand and amplify the ways arts experiences contribute to human health and flourishing.
