About this Event
This discussion group offers a space where artists can speak openly about their experiences in the industry, share their feelings about the art world, and think about a different way of engaging with art-making. Our mission is to cultivate a safe environment for discussion and, through collective dialogue, challenge the systemic hierarchies embedded in an increasingly competitive and capitalistic art landscape. We aim to dismantle the single-file ladder to success, and believe that the work starts now, at the start of our careers.
During the event, our hosts will offer prepared prompts and discussion topics, inviting all participants to contribute their perspectives. We will also introduce creative projects that emphasize the value of conversation and collaboration in artistic practice. Through this event series, our goal is to deepen our connection to creative discourse and to one another as artists.
This is not a networking event. It is an opportunity to share your thoughts, experiences, and emotions within a supportive and productive space.
MAQET is an artist collective founded by Vanessa Marrocco, Rhiannon Hales, Lucky Duran, and Dalya Inan, four emerging New York based artists committed to building community and fostering honest dialogue.
